Tell me a good plan to visit spiritual places around KUMBAKONAM( tamilnadu)?

Hi, i will be booking a ticket to kumbakonam from bangalore on this sunday.. Iam going alone. I am thinking to visit Thirunallar and Papanasam by taking kumbakonam as a base point. Is it a good idea? How far is papanasam from kumbakonam.. Also tell me some good natural spiritual places (not build by any rajas etc.) as i am interested in natural shrines.. Thanx in advance..
